Today ,a colleague of mine passed away in a bike accident . He was not in my team. I did not know him personally.I remember his face.One of my friends had even wished him when he came to office in the morning .Another one told me that he knew him personally and that he was a good guy .They had studied together and he had known him for 10 yrs or so.He told me that he did not have the heart to go see the departed's body which was awaiting postmortem in Manipal Hospital.May his soul rest in peace and may god help his family to go through this tough phase.

I ride a motorbike too . I go to the same office.I travel in the same traffic.It could have been me.Made me think about my mortality . As someone told me - ' Life is as fragile as a spider's single yarn.A strong gust would wipe it all away'.

Do I fear death ? No.Not mine at least. Another friend told me not to talk about ' these things '.That 'words have power' and I shouldn't speak about it.Otherwise it would come true.Out of respect, I did shut up then.

Right now I haven't planned anything.Neither am I expecting something in life.So the thought of a permanent and abrupt 'Power Failure' doesn't scare me anymore.I did a lot of praying in the past to god asking him to 'spare somebody else of the agony and that I will readily suffer instead '.Hopefully my luck hasn't run out yet :)

Either ways, if something like that does happen,I have no regrets.I lived a healthy happy life .And a 'short' one as of now :) .God has given me enough .The best being -my amazing parents and family .What would I ask more ? I jus hope I haven't let them down.

I am not sad.I wish someone somewhere smiles when they think about me when I am not there anymore :) .That would probably make my day in afterlife.Its better to burn out in a flash like a cracker than die slowly like a candle :)

Situation involving a bunch of 'tough' guys

I was in Kerala. Me & dad were going out for shopping.This road we were taking was kinda narrow with a good amount of traffic.We saw 6-7 guys walking on the road.They were walking near the middle of the road dangerously close to traffic.As were passing them, dad told them decently that as the space was less why don't they use the side walk as there was no space for the vehicles.As we passed by,one of them shouted something in Malayalam. Something really rude translating to 'go mind your business'.
I don't usually get into fights.I kinda talk outta situations .Even if it is someone I can beat up, I just let it go.

I wasn't angry or something.But I did not want to let them go just like that.I stopped the car, got out and walked up to them.They were all college kids.Most of them were bigger and meaner looking than me :).I walked up to the guy who had shouted,put my hand on him and told him to repeat what he said.He didn't utter a word.I told him that if you can't back up what you say,dont say it ! His friends were getting all defensive.Bunch of sissies! Eventually he and friends said sorry to dad and everything was over without throwing a punch.Back in the car,dad and me were laughing at the situation and how the traffice got blocked as I had stopped the car on the road :)

The thing that struck me is that I was not afraid to step up.Its not that I pick up a fight every other day or something.I have seen people's hands shake when they get angry or are in a fight.Like fear, adrenaline either works for you, or you lockup and get beat up.The best thing to do is learn to deal with it. Maybe I sound all Kungfuey...but ...Learn to calm yourself down with breathing. Some people are naturally calm, some are not.I love the adrenaline rush.

An adrenaline rush happens when body releases adrenaline .When this happens, the body releases a chemical called dopamine which can act as a natural pain killer.During an adrenaline rush,I have a clear head and its like stuff around me slows down and I have a better understanding and reaction to everything.

I have to thank my Karate Sensei for this :). He always used to pit me against bigger guys during sparring while I was in school.There was this one guy who weighed around 100 kgs even when we were in high school.And he was not just the fat kinds.He was like 6'3" and had a big frame.He used to be my regular sparring partner.He used to charge like a rampaging elephant when the round started.I used to be scared like hell before we fought.But hey, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

I have sparred with torn ligaments and fractures.I never feel any pain when I am in a fight.And like everything else experience makes you calm.Martial arts make you tougher mentally too and helps you handle situations better.

Being drawn into a fight is not a good thing.And never fight 7 on 1. You always have an option.Hurting someone or getting hurt permanently is not a good option.

But sometimes,when people cross the line, when your family or friends are in it, when you have to step up, you just have to do that.I realize that I could have gotten into trouble ,but I was confident enough of kicking all their sorry asses if it came to that.

The Communications & ITministry wants to muzzle social media sites now .Social mediaplatforms are being asked to censor whatever politicians deem objectionable andtoo offensive for the Internet.Right....

As if whatever the Indian media shows us is notedited enough !

Although India is world’slargest democracy , they are asking Facebook,Twitter etc to help them filterthe Internet because the country has several religions and faiths.

Btw isn't Internet the most democratic mediumout there???

They say that what might seem humorous to someone canbe really offensive to another and they want to avoid further incidents ofcommunities taking to the streets and vandalizing public property. Huh ?

They also say that satirical representations of publicfigures are acceptable, but they should not disturb the communal harmony. Sunday was good !

Woke up early (compared to normal weekend standards :) ) .

Cold and breezy climate with overcast sky.

Went for a long freakin 7 km walk with a friend.

Came back and worked on some boxing.

Tore something in my right leg(some kinda ligament injury),sprained a shoulder etc.

In the evening went to a party at this pub.

Cigarettes + Alcohol +Loud Rock Music+ Darkness gets u >>>>>>> Really High !!!

Watched this movie called 'Desi Boyz' .Was good fun .

Slept @ 02:45 ish

They don't want to.They pretend like they hear you and what you say makes sense to them.Even if you point out issues,sit with them, have a chat,pour your heart out,eventually they don't give a shit .That is the truth.Too much ego attached.Maybe I am like that too.I dunno. The more I think that some people ( especially the ones who matter) will change or at least will try to change is like asking for too much.They are just happy being themselves.Whatever.Me going out of my way to do things will just create bad feelings within myself in the due course of time.I am just going to act smart and shut up and not let anyone know what I feel anymore.Being honest doesn't make any difference if you come from where I come :) .So all those people will be happy in their BIG world and me happy in my tiny air bubble :)

GodDammit ! I mumbled the prayers my grandma taught me when I was a kid.I becomealert due to the fear. I could even hear minute sounds like that of theclock ticking in the living room.I was becoming mad.

Minutespassed .Finally I mustered up guts, rolled over and tried to switch onthe bedroom light.

Ughhhhhhh.. NO POWER !

Whatthe hell ! How worse can it get ? I could sense shadows lurking in the otherroom.I did not want to look there.

Iwanted to talk to someone.But there was no one to talk to. The only friend Ihad will not talk to me anymore ! Can't blame him. I dragged him intothis.He never wanted to come.

Kevinwas the kind of guy who lived life on his terms and did things he wantedto without caring about people around him.He was tall and well built.Helooked intimidating and had tattoos which he flaunted. But he has a great guyonce you got to know him.He was my colleague at the call center.We had workedtogether for 4 yrs.We joined as agents and got promoted as team leadsaround the same time.

Mywife never liked him.She thought Kevin was a prick .The truth was that shehated his guts.Stupid Bitch ! He made fun of her couple of years backduring one of our team lunches. It was something regarding her dressingsense (which according to me was retarded).But whatever! Who am I to say! She never forgot that and hated him eversince.

Kevinlived in with his gf in his apartment at the other side of the city. They nevervisited my house due to obvious reasons.

Icursed myself for going for the ride that night.It was a typical fridaynight at office.It was almost midnight and there were very little people inoffice . There were no chicks in the bay .So no entertainment there too.

Kevinwas sitting at my desk and we were discussing the new call targets andthe pressure on us from the management to deliver.There were 2 agents sittingopposite to us .They did not have any calls for sometime now. We decided totake break and asked them to take an aux (break ) and come with us outside fora smoke .Both these kids were new joinees and were getting used to the waystuff worked here.There lived away from the city and their village persona cameout in the naive way they spoke.

Wewalked out and went to the tea(cigarette) shop outside.Therewere few like us there .Stray dogs were sleeping cozily on the roadside.We tooktea and cigarettes and moved to the corner.One of the newbies started talkingabout his village which was somewhere near Anchetti forest .The Forestwas located arout 150 kms from Bangalore.It seemed like an interestingplace.It got little spooky when they spoke of the superstitions about theplace.They talked about this forest banglow located right in the middle of thejungle.In the past, people had gone missing when they travelled near the placeinside the jungle at night. We laughed it off saying that it was obvious thatin a jungle with wild dogs,leapords,elephants,boars and hell even fresh watercrocodiles,this seemed 'business as usual'. But they argued that it was notanimals that had to be feared and that there were other things in thedark waiting for you.

Kevinstarted giggling. So did I.The newbee got serious and put up his hand andpointed to his wrist,There were couple of threads tied to his wrist .A red oneand a black one.It resembled the ones you get in temples.He said that, hehad once trailed off into the forrest as a kid .He remembered somethingchasing him .Hours later someone from his village spotted him lying unconsiousin the bushes nearby.He also said that he wore those mantric threads on hiswrists everysince and it kept him out of danger.

Ilooked at Kevin and told him we have to give it a shot.He said it was not worthit.The boys warned us saying that it was not wise to do something like that .Iignored it and said they have to treat us if we made it till the jungle resthouse and got back.One of the boys smirked and said we won't be coming back forthe treat.That ticked me off.I said then and there that we are going to thatplace tonight.I proceeded to ask them all other details and land marks aroundthe place.They warned me again but reluctantly gave me the details.When theytried to advice me again,I shooed them back telling them that theirbreak is over and they have to get back to calls.

Ilooked over at Kevin.He was thinking about something.I told him that we shouldgo and check out the place and that it would be a thrilling experience.He wasinterested but said he wasn't sure if he wants to do it.I stood there for thenext five minutes and convinced him to join me.We decided to leave my bike atthe office and take his bullet.It would save lotsa petrol that ways.His was '95make 350 cc heavily modified bike.Kevin spend half his salary maintaining thebike.We did not call our homes and tell about this trip as our logouttime was 8:30 am.So we told one of our colleagues to handle the team andsaid we will be back in couple of hours or so.

Uncharacteristically,Kevin'sbike did no start .We had to try for a good 5 mins until it finally did.Goodsign to start a trip!

Wetook the hosur main road and traveled to hosur where we refueled(full tank asbullet is not a high mileage bike.Also,we did not know where the petrolpumps were) and stopped for dinner .There was a small roadside shop whichserved liquor in the back side.We had roti and chicken and couple of beers totop it up .

TheTamilnadu roads were pretty good.It was slowly getting windy which wasuncharacteristic for July .We travelled for another hour or so.Irode and rode.There were villages on the way but not a soul outside.

Theroad started getting narrow and there were no vehicles around . We passedanother village on the way.There were no street lights or even electricity inthe huts.

Theslopes slowly started to appear.It was nice riding in this place.It was windy too.I kept askingKevin not to sleep sitting at the back.I did not feel drunk.But the pitchdarkness was making me little uneasy.

Nowwe were approaching hair pin bends and we could see the forest area slowlystarting.It baffled me that there no vehicles coming either way.Not even trucks! Kevin asked me to stop the bike.I asked him why ? He said he had to pee.Great!

Isomehow did not like the idea of stopping the bike .I asked him to get down .Ikept the light on and started gunning the bike.Stopping and listening to thesights and sounds of the jungle(Which was growing thicker on the road side )was not great.There was something in my head which was telling me to stop andturn back. Alcohol ! Wat else?

Kevincame back.We drove away .I looked at my watch.It was almost and hour and a halfsince we started.It was pitch black all around us but we were getting a lot of moon light .We were nearing our destination. I looked out for the signboard which the boys had told us.That was the place where we had to take adiversion from the main road. The forest guest house was another kilometer orso from there.

Thereit was .A small sign on the left .It was made out of white cloth.Somebody haddrawn a stop symbol on it.I slowly took a left turn into the narrow bumpyroad.Kevin was fully awake now.He was asking if we had reached.I nodded.Thissmall and narrow road had vegetation on both sides which made it very difficultto ride the bike.Finally, we decided to get down and push the bike.The Placewas beautiful.We were somewhere in the hills and we could see lots of land fromwhere we were.It could have been nicer if there was daylight though.I hadturned off the bike and started using the pocket torch I carried in my bag.There was lots of fresh grass on the road now.It felt as if this trail had not been used lately.I could hear birds and crickets now. Birds…must be somenocturnal ones.It was getting a lil chilly too.

Istopped for a second and pointed something to Kevin.There was a lil bit of fogin the air.It was weird that there was fog in a summer month.The sounds ofnature around grew a notch louder and our vision blurrier.I could sense theuneasiness with Kevin too.We were near.

Elsewhere, Floyd Mayweather aka 'Kentucky Floyd Chicken' had analtercation at the weigh ins for the fight with Victor Ortiztonight.Boring!!!!! Boxing is a sport people are losing interest in.The only fight which is of any interest to anyone is the Superfight between Floyd and Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao. There is avery slim chance that Floyd will take that fight.

In Local News sorry World News..Sorry ..IntergalacticNews... Super Star Rajnikanth is doing a guest appearance in RA ONE ! Meaning twice the revenue for the movie now .

And finally, In India the petrol price has gone up again . Efforts arebeing made to make it Rs 100 /- by the end of the year.On monday, in Kerala thisauspicious occasion will be celebrated as a 'Harthal'.Festivities may include blocking the roads ,stone pelting and also closing down shops andestablishments.

Onam,Rabies Vaccination and the goddamn cats

Onam was good(Even though my mind was not completely into it due to "certain reasons").But hey ....anyday at home is a good day.It rained all day & night.This is not god's own country anymore.It's rains own country !

Now lemme give you some free advice !
RULE #1 : NEVER try to save CATS !

Being the superhero I am,and after being inspired by Batman,Ra One,Salman Khan and Anna Hazare... I was trying to save couple of them kittens from drowning in the rain yesterday.And guess what happened ?One lil rat bit me .Err I mean the lil cat who was a rat bit me :) .That vampire sank his fank like microscopic teeth into my finger.Blood!!!!!!!!! Dizziness,Fear ...THUD !

Now.. since these cats are not vaccinated and they roam around a lot, I had to take "expert" opinion and go take Rabies shots starting today.

By the book,you have to take injection on the 0,3,7,28 days after exposure.You also have to get vaccinated immediately after the bite.I was going through articles on internet about Rabies so that I have a better understanding of what it can do to me.Once the virus kicks in and you don't get vaccinated,it can be fatal.It affects the central nervous system ,may put you into a coma and cause death.Thats not the way I want to die.Hell no! Ok ...Maybe I can die of Rabies while free diving from a plane into an ocean full of sharks and mermaids.... or something cool like that !

So.. I end up going to the hospital in the morning.We know some POWERFUL people there.So no waiting in the queue.In minutes,I am escorted in...and am breifed by the Chubby Nurse Auntie wearing a mask (felt as if I was being quaratined after a zombie virus outbreak like in the movies).

Soon after , I am injected on both my arms.The nurse obviously does not care about my feelings.She had a hannibal lectar like calmness while plunging the needle repeatedly into me.Being the macho man that I am ...I did not even flinch ....Kids stuff eh ! Thankfully ..this time.... unlike last time....my dad did not tell the nurse that-
" He is scared of injections".

Before leaving,I was told that I need to come and get stabbed once every 3 days for another week.Can it get any better? Also I was told not to erase it ? eh ? erase ?
I looked on my arm and found the needle marks and slight swelling there.Now as usual, I forget to ask them what does this 'erasing' mean ? So I assume that she means I shoudn't touch or rub the injected spot.So I roll up both my sleeves and flaunt my non existent SALMAN KHAN biceps and walk out in slow motion.

Anyways, my research work regarding the ordeal helped me get path breaking information .While browsing through terabytes of data on 'Yahoo Answers' for Rabies related queries,I saw a question from an obviously bright ,young man which went like this - "Does Masturbation cause blindness? " .

As I ride into the unending road of life,
As I look back through the window,
I see the past in front of my eyes.
I have been misunderstood,ridiculed,yelled at and
blamed.
Life is not like a movie with a crowd pleasing
ending or a romcom novel.
It can be an energy-vampire sucking out all the
positivity and leaving lots of negative energy.

I see rivers,lakes and lots of greenery on the way.
They take a bit of my pain away.
I understand that all this is part of the game.
I understand that the only thing that can hurt me
is myself as it is I who control my mind.
I realize how much I could have gained by spending
more time for myself ,for meditating ,for
understanding life rather than managing time badly
and staying up late and doing
work.

I never cared about people who hate me or want to pull me down.
I never cared about success or failure.
All that mattered to me was peace of mind and happiness for myself and
people who matter to me.
Nothing changes.
People who hate me ,who can't stand me ,who want
to get rid of me can continue throwing stones at me.
I will take all those stones and build towers out of it.
I look ahead and see a storm coming.
I am not scared. I know that this is just another battle,
I am a warrior and I am ready.

Foot Notes:I haven't followed EPL in a long time.Saw 1 match for the first time in 2 yrs .Arsenal got ArseF***** by Man U - 8:2 .Being an Arsenal fan.. that was genocide !
After suffering a concussion due to the fall last month,I decided to stop the rock climbing thingy(too many strings...err harnesses attached).So I have taken up tennis now.Nearly died of a heart attack today.Running around for 1.5 hrs is not my thing anymore.Ageing due to fat accumilaton is a reality..sadly !

The next couple of weeks will be pretty busy as Onam is round the corner.Oh lemme guess... you don't know Onam? It is this Malayalee festival(my best guess is that it too is a harvest festival like most others).It is celebrated to mark the occasion when Kerala waits for the return of its Legendary Chief Minister err...King Mahabali who visits his subject's(or their great great great great great times great squared cubed and raised to the power (n) grandchildren).

This is a big occasion for us as he comes only once a year from the underworld.Erm don't get me wrong, he aint no thug,underworld is like the world under...There's heaven,earth and pathala (underworld).Mahabali was tricked man ! More on this in the next part..

I had gone to watch .I had promised my self and my friend that I wouldn't fight as I had a ligament tear in my hand which was healing up .Reached class late as usual :) .There were news channels covering it ! And people were kicking ass that day ! I was intimidated.But this fighting thing is in your blood.I thing it's in all our dna's .I put my hand up for the last fight.I was kinda worried inside as my hand was really screwed up.I remember bowing before and after the fight.I do that automatically before all fights.Even the ones with my lil nephew :D .Karate teaches u lotsa handy stuff like that .It's all about respecting your opponent.

I had the same nightmare again! Woke up and felt myself breathing heavily. Earlier, I used to forget what happened in my dreams .But this...this one ...was different.I remembered everything.

I opened my eyes and looked around. It was pitch black as all the lights were off. Suddenly there was an eerie sound of a dog howling somewhere outside. It sent a chill down my spine. I looked out through the glass window. No luck with the light outside too.

My throat felt dry. I desperately wanted to drink some water. I normally leave a glass of water in the bedroom before sleeping. But darn! It was not there today. Since I couldn't muster the courage to getup and go to the kitchen to drink water, I pulled the blanket over my head and tried to distract my mind and sleep.

I hate to admit it! I was not so afraid when my wife was around .It lessens the fear to know that you have someone sleeping near you at night. Guess it is some basic human behavior. Anyway, our relationship (or whatever was left of it) turned really ugly in the last one year or so. We had frequent arguments, and once, I even hit her when I was in an inebriated state. I reckon alcohol brings out the best in every man. But then that was the nadir in our relationship. I woke up with a splitting headache next morning to find that she had packed her bags and left. This left me all alone in this big house.

I groped for my cell phone in the darkness to check the time. Finally found it.

The laptop has been overheating for a while. May put it up on e-bay asking if anybody wants a used multipurpose iron box!

I have a t-shirt with a quote -"You don't learn to swear until you learn driving”. Kinda true .Bangalore is filled with jerks who don't know even how to spell driving. So cutting the long story short, I lost it again and flipped off the jerk who was riding rash in his fancy car and was yelling at me to get out of the way .Hasn’t he read in the comics - "The Phantom is rough with the rough necks”. Bloody illiterate peasant!

It's damn hot all day .Started leaving a bowl of water downstairs for the friendly neighborhood dogs and another one on the balcony for the pigeons. No kidding. The pigeon nest is just a metre from my balcony. Saw couple of eggs in it yesterday :) . Wanted to take pics. But every time I come close, they get scared and scatter away. So admired from a distance. I am writing all this because I expect a Nobel Peace Prize this year. Oh....Comeon !!! Obama got it last year :(

Coming back to reckless driving ...I can't believe the fact that some people keep honking at old people ,kids, injured people, even pregnant women crossing the road. Everyone is in a hurry .Well...if you are one of the evil drivers… die and go to hell!!! And if possible…Send me a post card saying... ”Hi....Wish you were here!”

I gotta go now. It is a general convention in this part of the world to sleep at this time. I swear! No kidding.

I was on sick leave for 3 days last week. Someone from office asked me if it was a case of Ergophobia. I replied stating that it may be Contagious and that it’s better to stay away from me. :P

People keep finding faults with me. I think that the world is getting obsessed with me. Therefore, the world should go get a life! :D :D

My Bank keeps sending me these updates (emails, sms) regarding my bank balance. What’s wrong with these people? Why do they want to make me miserable by showing me my account balance? I think they too should go get a life!

My German Shepherd, who is the sworn enemy of cats of the locality has actually made friends with a kitten! Bugger was treating it like a PUP, sniffing it and would probably have given it a good licking too if I didn’t notice. Unbelievable!!! ...considering the history of violence my GSD has .I called him aside and told him- "Becky ...Dude...For the 1st time in my life... I'm ashamed of training you. You have let me down man! Biiiiig TIME! :( *Nodding head vigorously with regret*

Maybe this is the sign of harmony, coexistence and global peace!!!

Waking up and going to office by 7 am on Monday has to be the sickest biological, physical and mental torture tool invented ever. For a change, can’t someone declare Monday a holiday! I don’t even mind working on Saturdays (well… at least theoretically :) ).

Last week, I attended kickboxing class on 6 days! Still it’s kool .No fatigue. But it all changes once I get to office. Feel like a granddad on a rocking chair while sitting in office and staring at the computer screen for the best part of 9 hrs :( .Well I won’t complain much. Most of my IT brothers and sisters share the same sentiment! :)

Nowadays I get irritated looking at most social networking sites .'Faceboasting' from people (me included) has taken off to new levels. Some folks put up updates bragging that they did this and that. Updates also involve statements which are intended for others to respond .The sickest part is that I fall into these traps and end up responding and putting ridiculous updates some times .

By the way, 86400 seconds= 24 x60x60 (if you couldn’t figure it out the first time (like me!)) .I think I wasted quite a few seconds already writing this post.Oh no! I have to run now and make use of the ‘remaining time’ left in the day to turn in all around :P…

It's almost been 3 months that I have posted something here. No! This blog is not officially dead! :) I have been attending kickboxing classes for last 3 months. It’s amazing. It keeps you fit and healthy. And it’s fun too. And hey, you learn ways to defend yourself. I have started spending more time with my family as I felt guilty earlier for not doing so. I guess this is the best time of the 3yrs that I was in Bangalore .Touchwood! Some pics from class…

Very tired! 'Tired' will be an understatement. I have made a new resolution that I will sleep at least 6 hrs on a trot (Never happened in last 3 yrs or so).Too many tensions and distractions in mind. Never been like this. Thankfully work is not getting affected by all this .Went home on the weekend. Traveled on 5 different buses enroute home. Was trying something new. Will never repeat it. Was left with extreme posterior muscle pain all day.

Akon's lip sync in the IPL closing ceremony sucked big time .Katrina was a relief though :)
Rain is sexy when you are at home .The stray cat who we feed every day nearly bit off our dog's ear. It was defending its kitten that our dog nearly swallowed. All are well now. Was pissed with the stray cat. If not reprimanded, was going to break the stray cat's leg. Was advised that I should control my temper. Nearly lost temper hearing the advice.
On another day, went on a long drive on the bike with the sky over cast .Felt good.
Went around the field with cam. Clicked lots of beautiful pics.
Had that sinking feeling when I was about to leave home. Wished I din't have to leave. Slept like a baby in the bus. Reached safe and sound. Went to meet nephew. Had lots of fun with him. He tried to teach me things which I taught him a month ago. Pretended that I was hearing it all for the first time :)

Decided to get rid of certain negative elements from my life. Some people learn it the hard way .I am one of them!

Cricket tournament in office is coming up. Will be in trouble due to lack of cardio. Have to shed some extra kilos very soon.

Recently haven’t read anything substantial apart from SRK’S interview in FILMFARE.His interviews are really kool as he is an intelligent dude and has his way with words.

Only aim left in life today is to get some sleep. Eyes are half shut. See ya Zzzzz oooon………

Early morning thoughts

Last weekend I watched the movie 'Marley and me’. It was a sweet movie about a family and their life with their Labrador named Marley. Bought back lots of memories. We always had dogs in the family (and I didn’t mean relatives :)) .As a kid they were my best friends. The best thing about them is that they love you unconditionally with out expecting anything in return. The worst thing is that we always end up out living them. People who never had pets probably won't understand this but when you lose a dog, it’s as if one of your own family member died.

Recently, I went through some instances in life which made me realize that maybe I am not that well equipped to face bad situations. Especially the ones where people who are really close to you turn their backs on you for selfish reasons. I never wish ill for anyone. But when someone who is close to you leaves you out in the cold, you get hurt beyond words. Maybe I am not as tough as I thought I was. Or maybe I have mellowed down with age :) .I am blessed with supporting parents who stick with me during good and bad times. And like my dad says,'You don't learn to walk without falling down’. There is a lot to learn from it all.

Raj Thackeray's Reaction to Mumbai Terrorist Crisis

Raj Thackeray has threatened to beat up the NSG, Army and Navy Commandos if they enter Mumbai again because most of them are Non Marathi Manoos

He also has threatened violence if the Sign Boards of NSG, Army and Navy are not written in Marathi

He also expressed his anger towards the non Marathi media for giving so much attention to NSG, Army and Navy Commandos
“Where was the media when my Marathi Manoos gang was beating up innocent taxi drivers in Mumbai??”

He has also threatened the residents of Colaba for chanting "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" after the successful completion of NSG operations .According to him they should have chanted "Jai Maharashtra"

He said that he has no problems with terrorists so long as they adapt to the Marathi culture and help him beat up innocent non Marathis in Mumbai. In fact, he welcomes terrorist action in hotels because it will deter outsiders from coming to Mumbai

Being a life long fan of martial arts and more recently mixed martial arts,I have decided to start an MMA blog! Haven't zeroed in on a name yet .It is a subject that i browse most on the internet .And its a growing sport.So it's win/win situation anyways.

Dad has been around me trying hard to get rid of my lazy nature .Things are fine when he is around me .But when he is away ,all the dominoes crash down.Back to Square One.Personally i think i have a 5/10 rating on the LAZYMETER.So there is room for improvement :)

I haven't received my new ATM card yet.The courier people have been pinging it from 1 place to another.Nothing new.

Today,on the way to office my cab driver clipped a bike rider .Luckily there was no injury .But that #@&*!#$(F word in continous tense) @#$@@#$(B word) does not even accept that it was his fault .He even tried to yell at the poor biker(a 50 something man).There was lotsa space for him to move the vehicle but he kept on moving it to the left trying to overtake the bike .I was so pissed but preferred not to try getting some sense into his cranium.Waste of meat! Sent a complaint mail to transport dept.But most probably SHIFT+DEL is the answer for such emails .

I always thought that my house owner was a myth .I have heard stories of him coming and collecting the rent.There was no news of him for last 6 months .No response to calls.Nothing.Then yesterday he suddenly appeared from nowhere and i now i have to pay 6 months rent in all.Bad things happen to good people these days .What a shame.

Oh i almost forgot.I went for DRONA(It's a hindi movie btw( if you din't know)).Critics have been trying to murder it from day one.I don't find it that bad.Technically it rocks.But lotsa bad songs in wrong places !

Another beautiful day in the garden city.
I am in the office .There is not much work today.Had woken up just in time for office.Did not have time to shave.Brushed and bathed though :) . Had to run to catch the route cab to office.I suspect that the stubble on my face makes me look like a thug :).Girls seem to like 'bad' guys.So what the heck eh?
Travelling in the Bangalore traffic for one and a half hrs can be suffocating.I slept off after a while .Woke up when i bumped my head on the window when the vehicle slowed down abruptly.Spent the rest of the time reading a book titled FL!P(read as FLIP).It deals with the ability to 'flip' - to think counter-intuitively and then act boldly, with no regard for 'business as usual' conventions.The author is Peter Sheahan who is globally recognised as a leading expert in workforce trends and generational change. He still under 30 ,in a short span had built a multimillion dollar consulting practice, attracting clients such as Coca-Cola, L'Oreal and Ernst & Young. He is one of Australia's foremost strategic thinkers and business consultants.Anyways I liked the book ! Makes sense.

Time Management & Planning are things i gotta work on.Biiiiiiiig Time.....

Oh by the away adding insult to injury ,my atm card got stuck in the atm couple of days back.Had to get the card deactivated and apply for a new one .

After a long hiatus (well ...not that long) I am back. I was home last week. The trip as always was refreshing. Even though i was very happy about it, it made me rue over what i was missing every single day. But things are good as they are .I have learned to take everything in a positive way. There is a single way to move and that is forward. So be it.

I prefer buses when i travel home as it drops me nearby home.Travelling by train is not that good an option as i have to take a 30 minutes bus ride from the railway station. Airlines are no longer an option as the new Bangalore Airport is miles away and the air fares are not affordable anymore.

The bus I was in broke down on the way. I got out .It was close to midnight and the bus was parked in some place along the highway. I got out because of a strong urge to take a leak. I went and used the toilet in a petrol pump nearby while the bus driver and others were trying to fix the vehicle. There was no light in the toilet. With the 5 Watt light from my cell phone for light, i did the needful and quickly exited.

Bus driver and co were trying to repair the bus .After a while they suddenly said there is nogo.They stopped another bus and asked the rest of passengers to board it .They said that as it was Friday & no buses were free and there is no point waiting. There were no seats in the new bus and the only option was to stand or sit in the empty space between seats till next main city is reached(it could easily take another 6 hrs).I did not see a single person raise voice and people started taking their bags and boarding the new bus. Imagine 64 people in a 32 seater bus and that too including women and children. Some of us protested and asked them to repair the bus or get an alternate. They did not comply saying the issue could be repaired 'only' by a mechanic from Bangalore. I decided enough was enough. I went to the Petrol bunk nearby and asked for Phone no of the local police station. I called the Polic Station. As usual they were non responsive. I managed to get the Sub Inspector's no. The SI was a lady who said not to worry and that she will be there soon. Just before the Police arrived the 2nd bus left with 26 passengers leaving us 6 behind. When the police came, we explained the situation and the Inspector asked them to get us an alternative and even took their vehicle registration papers and asked them to get it the next day . We thanked her and we managed to get another bus in due course of time. Bus i am sure all of them felt bad that no one supported us for the common and just cause. But i felt happy and contented that what we did could stop such things from happening again. We later came to know that all those people who had gone earlier had a tough time and reached after we did.

I made a late decision to take the ITIL V3 Certification. It was like now or never. I was tensed about the outcome. It was not about about passing/failing. It was about the money involved. The certification itself costs around 165 USD .Man... that's lotsa money right there.
So...attended the certification today and passed by god's grace .The strangest thing is that I got 100 % in it. I am not trying to be humble but the last time I got cent percent in a paper was in LKG.So at the end of the day, i am a very happy man.

Its very strange that it took India 108 years of participation in Olympic games to win an individual Gold medal .The last time India won the gold was for Hockey at the 1980 Moscow Olympics .It's a welcome relief as it may wash away some angst at the National Hockey team for not qualifying.

Cheers to Abhinav Bindra for making the country proud. News is already out that various States and Organizations are competing in announcing cash prizes. Good for Abhinav .He deserves every bit of it .But why doesn't anyone realize that he will be earning exponential amounts for endorsements in years to come. If they had so much money to spare, there are numerous ways to use it to develop our infrastructure. But anyways...better not dig graves on this awesome occasion.

In today's world, the rich are getting richer and poor becoming poorer. But there is no space for sympathy or even empathy. People just keep moving blindly forward without giving a damn about what's happening around them. I bet you and even me would think twice before helping someone in need. I saw an article in the local news paper which showed the sad plight of a 10th standard kid and his suffering family. I normally read right through these pages so as to get to the sports or entertainment column .But, I don’t know why, i just stopped and read the complete article. I was very moved by it and decided to send some much needed cash (whatever I can afford).I talked to my friend who a social worker was trying to get her to talk to her roommates as I thought help from any quarter was to be taken. While she was telling explaining the story to them, they all crowded around her .But as the story unfolded, they began to lose interest. Comments like," These kinds of stories come in news everyday. How can you help all of them?” Even though she has had heard enough, as loyal a friend she was, my friend asked them again if they will lend help. Silence! She later told me that she felt embarrassed by non- responsiveness. I think it should have been the other way around.
She always sees the glass half full than half empty and says everybody has their own opinion about these things and we should respect it. I am not a Buddhist and do not take things like these too kindly.
I was not ready to give up. Rang up dad. Talked to him. First thing he said was,"Give me the address the money has to be sent" .It may sound dramatic but I truly feel blessed to have a family who always stands by me no matter what.

Later, when I went to office, I thought of letting my team mates know of the matter. After all, they are rich folk who like most of their IT counterparts spent large chunks of money on meaningless things .So, I sent across a mail to my teammates which go like this...

This is a heart touching story I read in today’s paper. It’s about the sad plight of family of two brothers both of who are woodcutters.
5 years ago, the elder brother had an accident .While cutting a tree, the roots gave way and the tree fell on him .He was paralyzed .He is unmarried. The younger brother who has wife and 2 kids had to take the burden of the family on his shoulders. Two months ago, disaster again struck. While cutting a tree branch he slipped and fell breaking his back. He too is bed ridden .His elder son who is in 10th standard works in order to support his family. He cannot even manage to get enough money to buy medicines .Even though the school he studied in offered him free education he cannot continue as he needs to support the family. His mother is unable to go outside the house as her husband and brother need help for everything .They even need assistance in doing their basic body functions. A committee has been set up by good hearted people living near by. They are expecting assistance of any kind for the suffering family
This is a terrible story and I was really moved by the plight of the family. I have decided to sent in some help .I thought I would let you know of this as you can also pitch in as this is for a good cause. Doesn’t matter if you are not interested in doing any monetary aid. A prayer or two would do.

This is a piece of news which really shocked me.
This is a story which appeared in Hindu, July 23, 2008

Belgaum: On Tuesday morning, passers-by on Belgaum-Ganeshpur Road in front of Benon Smith School here were shocked to see an abandoned calf bleeding. The animal was in pain after someone had cut its ears and tail.

With no help coming from anybody, the calf collapsed on the ground and people, who watched the animal suffer, did not inform the veterinary hospital or the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Belgaum unit.

When this correspondent reached the spot, the calf was lying on the ground with very little energy to stand on its own. However, the bleeding had stopped.

Street vendors present at the spot since morning said that it was not a case of accident. They alleged that it was a deliberate act of violence. Efforts to trace the owner of the animal went in vain. Some people tried to feed the animal with bananas, but it could not take them.

On being informed, the staff of the veterinary hospital rushed to the spot and administered first aid and anti-septic medicine to the calf. But, efforts to trace the SPCA activists failed. Though the SPCA had opened an office on the premises of the veterinary hospital, it does not function from there anymore.

A senior official in the hospital feared it to be a case of superstition. He said many people, including farmers and cattle owners in villages, cut ears and tails of cattle as mark of sacrifice in the hope of getting divine blessings

She cribbed about the breakfast. She said she did not like the one for the day. I told her that we can go have it from outside .Poor thing was delighted.
So I embarked on my journey. Took the shortcut which passed through a narrow galli (lane). I looked around. The galli was unclean. Kids were running around. There were office goers trotting along .Some were talking into their phone mikes and were oblivious of the surroundings .Most of them had backpacks with their company logos printed on them .Reminded me of my schooldays. An old lady was sitting on the side and washing clothes .I "carefully" crossed the connecting road as I did not want to be a hit and run case. Death was not an option. At least not for the time being :).
In another 5 minutes I reached the main road. The main road was crowded with a hoard of people trying to rush to office. I skillfully moved from side to side avoiding collision. A girl was coming from the other side and I noticed her looking @ me. As we came closer, she looked away probably to show that she was a 'decent' gal. So did me.

WYGIWYG (What You Give Is What You Get)!

Vehicles were piling up on the main road. I could see buses flocked with people helplessly looking outside trying to find the cause for the block .As if it could do them any good if they find the cause. As I neared my destination, I saw a Corporation lady worker carrying a pile of trash and dumping it on the roadside. She might as well have put it right in the middle of the road. God knows why things are the way they are in our country.

It’s become an important part of my life .I won't say I cannot live without it as I am sure I will take it as a challenge and somehow get on with it. It makes me happy @ times, sad @ others .It basically helps me to connect to people like never before. Surely would have bought lots of changes in my life if it had come sooner .But things are good the way they are. So what the heck!
I dislike the way my mind waits for a reply when I message a loved one. I was never a fan of something that makes me wait. Maybe it’s a matter of 3-4 mins, but the pain of waiting is bad.

My friend was telling me that she feels bad for her mother who lived miles away from their home. She stayed in a small hostel and is provided with a small room with an even smaller bathroom which she has to share with a roommate. It was pretty evident that my friend was feeling bad about her mum while speaking about this.

I thought about the psyche behind her mother's decision to stay there. People, especially the one's from the previous generation want security .They take minimum risks in life and want a secure future for their kids. It really moved me when she said it but I did not show it & somehow changed the subject.

It made me think of my own mother .How little I talked to her!
I asked myself when the last time I enquired her about her job .
I wondered how she manages to motivate herself to travel 100 of kms from work and then back. How does she manage to do it day in and day out in spite of her age (54 at last count).To be honest it strikes an emotional cord inside me. I felt helpless and sad!

Phone to the rescue!

I gave her a call, and this time spoke in length about her work load and how she manages it .Felt good doing that. I am sure she felt good that I asked. It won't make a difference to her though. She has already accepted her destiny, i.e. to dedicate her life for a cause.
She gives her 100% in everything whether it’s at work/home. She is honest and sticks to what she feels are right. I am learning something from her and will surely implement the values she teaches me through her life.

Good morning/Good evening/Good day..depending on where you are.I am really excited to start blogging.Atleast doing something worthwhile and interesting.No promises regarding when next update will be, but since i have started it i might as well continue :)
